The AI Stack for Resellers
The short version: if you source secondhand and clearance inventory and sell it across eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop and Facebook Marketplace, your bottleneck is not sourcing. It is the minutes per item: photographing, writing a title that works on four different search engines, posting to all of them, and pulling every copy down the second one sells. The five picks below cover that loop for about $22/month starting out and about $63/month for the full build. One of them costs nothing and we tell you to keep it that way. And one rule outranks every tool on this page: when an item sells, it comes down everywhere within minutes. Oversells are the fastest way to damage seller metrics you spent a year building.
- Claude: descriptions, per-platform titles, buyer replies ($0–20/mo)
- Vendoo: crosslist and auto-delist, cheapest entry (~$0–30/mo)
- List Perfectly: the rival, better at volume (~$29–69/mo)
- PhotoRoom: consistent photos from a phone (~$13/mo)
- Comps research: eBay sold listings and Terapeak ($0, do not pay for this yet)
1. Claude: the part that turns a pile of notes into four listings
Our pick · No affiliate program, so we earn $0 recommending this
Claude (free tier first; Pro if you hit the ceiling)
$0–20/month, Pro is $20 billed monthly or about $17/month billed annually (as of August 2026, verify) · claude.ai
Four jobs, all of them things resellers currently do by hand at midnight. First, descriptions: photograph the item, type your measured facts as rough notes ("Pendleton wool shirt, mens M, pit to pit 22in, small moth hole left cuff, no stains"), and get back a clean description that mentions the flaw plainly instead of burying it. Second, per-platform titles: eBay rewards long keyword-dense titles, Poshmark and Depop reward short brand-plus-style phrasing, and one paste produces a variant for each. Third, buyer messages: the "will this fit me" and "lowest you'll go" threads answered warmly in seconds instead of after three days of guilt. Fourth, category and keyword brainstorming when you genuinely do not know what the thing is called, which for anyone sourcing thrift and estate lots is a weekly problem.
It is the only pick here with no affiliate program at all, which means recommending it earns us exactly nothing. It still goes first because it is the one you can start using tonight for free.

2. Vendoo: the crosslister most resellers land on
Not yet an affiliate link · pays us $0 today
Vendoo (Starter or Growth, after the 14-day trial)
14-day free trial, no free plan · Starter ~$14.99/mo, Growth ~$29.99/mo, Pro ~$59.99/mo, roughly $12.49 / $24.99 / $49.99 per month on annual billing (as of August 2026, verify) · vendoo.co
Create the listing once, push it to eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Facebook Marketplace and the rest, then let the tool pull the other copies down when one sells. That last function is the whole reason this line item exists in your budget. Vendoo also keeps a single inventory record per item, so cost basis, source, and sale price live in one place instead of across four seller dashboards, which matters enormously in January.
Vendoo's pricing has historically metered you on new items added per month rather than total crossposts, so an item already in your Vendoo inventory can be relisted and reposted freely. Their current published tiers read as unlimited crossposting on paid plans with the background-removal allowance as the main step-up between them. Check the item allowance on their pricing page before you pick a tier, because this is the detail they revise most often.

3. List Perfectly: the rival, and the honest head-to-head
Not yet an affiliate link · pays us $0 today
List Perfectly (Simple, Business, Pro or Pro Plus)
Simple ~$29/mo · Business ~$49/mo · Pro ~$69/mo · Pro Plus from ~$99/mo, month to month with no annual discount advertised (as of August 2026, verify) · listperfectly.com
The other name every reseller group argues about. List Perfectly covers the same marketplaces with the same core promise, and its case against Vendoo is volume: bulk crosslisting arrives on the Business plan at about $49/month, and the higher tiers bundle a large monthly background-removal allowance, an AI listing assistant, Poshmark sharing tools and auto-delist. If you list in batches of thirty rather than one at a time, the bulk actions are where the money comes back.
How to choose. Vendoo wins on entry price and on staying cheap while you are small, with paid plans starting around half of List Perfectly's opening price. List Perfectly wins once your bottleneck is batch operations rather than the monthly bill, and its Pro tier's background-removal allowance can replace a separate photo subscription outright. If you are unsure, start on Vendoo's 14-day trial, which costs nothing to abandon if the workflow does not fit.

4. PhotoRoom: the reason your closet looks like a shop

PhotoRoom Pro
~$12.99/month billed monthly, ~$7.50/month billed annually (as of August 2026, verify) · free tier available · photoroom.com
Shoot on a bed, a floor, a garage wall, whatever you have. PhotoRoom cuts the background, drops in a consistent clean one, and batches the whole haul at once so forty items shot in four different rooms come out looking like one catalogue. On eBay a clean white background is the norm buyers scan past fastest; on Poshmark and Depop a consistent look across your closet is what makes a browser open a second listing. Same tool we recommend on the Etsy stack and the Amazon stack, for the same reason: it is the cheapest way to make a phone camera look deliberate.

5. Comps research: the pick where we tell you to spend nothing
No affiliate link, no product to buy · this is the free baseline
eBay sold listings plus Terapeak Product Research
There is a whole category of paid tools promising to price your inventory. Before you buy any of them, use the free data that already sits inside your seller account. The sold-listings filter on eBay search shows what comparable items actually closed at, not what hopeful sellers are asking. Terapeak Product Research, inside Seller Hub under the Research tab, has been free to all eBay sellers since 2021 with roughly three years of sales history behind it, so you can see sell-through and price ranges rather than eyeballing three sold results. Terapeak Sourcing Insights, the category-trend view, is the piece that needs a Basic Store subscription or higher.
For most resellers this is genuinely enough, and it is enough forever if you sell in categories with steady comps. Where AI helps is the step after the data: paste your comp range into Claude with your cost, your fees and your target margin and have it tell you your floor price and where to set an offer-accept threshold. The research is free; the arithmetic is what you were avoiding.

The rules that protect your seller accounts
Crosslisting is allowed everywhere. The operational risks it creates are specific, and they are the reason this stack is worth paying for at all.
What we considered and rejected
| Tool | Why it didn't make the stack |
|---|---|
| Other crosslisters (Crosslist, Nifty, PrimeLister, Flyp and friends) | A crowded, capable category. Vendoo and List Perfectly are where the community and the marketplace coverage concentrate, and the honest advice is to pick one crosslister rather than shop the field forever. If you are happily on another one, it is doing the same job; do not switch for us. |
| Poshmark share bots and auto-followers | Rejected on policy grounds. Poshmark's guidelines prohibit unauthorized automation for exactly these actions, and the upside is engagement metrics rather than sales you can bank. Not worth the account. |
| Paid comps and pricing subscriptions | eBay's free sold-listings data and Terapeak cover the question for most resellers. We would rather send you to the free tool and be useful than sell you a subscription you do not need. See our commission table for what we earn on everything here, which in this stack's case is nothing. |
| AI product photography and virtual models | Real technology, wrong use case for secondhand. Generated imagery of a used item misrepresents its actual condition, which is the one thing resale buyers are judging. Background cleanup is fine; a generated garment is not. |
| Dedicated reseller bookkeeping suites | Worth it eventually. Below a few hundred items a year, the inventory record in your crosslister plus a spreadsheet of cost basis does the job, and the money is better spent on inventory. A future page once our test cycle can do it justice. |
Common questions
Is it against the rules to list the same item on eBay, Poshmark and Mercari at once?
No, crosslisting is allowed. The obligation that comes with it is delisting everywhere the moment the item sells. Seller-cancelled out-of-stock orders count as defects on eBay, where the seller standards ceiling is 2% of transactions before Below Standard status, and Mercari can charge a cancellation fee and expose your cancellation rate. Automating that delist is the main thing your crosslisting subscription buys.
Vendoo or List Perfectly?
Vendoo if you want the lowest bill. List Perfectly if you list in batches and bulk operations are your bottleneck. Never both against the same inventory. Trial Vendoo first, and move only when the batch tools would genuinely save you an hour a week.
Can AI write my resale listing descriptions?
Yes for phrasing, structure and per-platform keyword variants. No for facts. Supply your own measurements, materials and flaws, tell the model to use only those, and check the draft against the item. Never generate an authenticity claim.
Do I need a paid pricing tool?
Not to start, and possibly not ever. eBay's sold-listings filter and the free Terapeak Product Research inside Seller Hub answer the comps question for most categories. Spend the money you saved on inventory.
The math
Starting out: ~$22/month (Claude free tier, Vendoo Starter at about $14.99, PhotoRoom on annual billing at about $7.50, comps research free). Full build: ~$63/month (Claude Pro at $20, Vendoo Growth at about $29.99, PhotoRoom billed monthly at about $12.99). On the List Perfectly path: ~$82/month with the Business plan at about $49, and less if its included background removals let you drop PhotoRoom. Prices as of August 2026, so always check the vendor pages.
Now the break-even. Take a fairly ordinary reseller item: sourced for $4, sold for $25, roughly $3 to $4 in marketplace fees plus shipping supplies and the odd promoted-listing cut, leaving about $10 net per item. At that margin the starter stack pays for itself with about 2 to 3 extra items sold per month, the full build with about 6 to 7, and the List Perfectly path with about 8 to 9. That is a low bar compared with most stacks on this site, and it is low for a specific reason: a crosslister does not just save you time, it puts each item in front of three or four more buyer pools. If the tool does nothing but prevent one oversell and the eBay defect that follows it, that alone is worth a year of the starter stack.
Skip all of it if: you list under about 10 to 20 items a month, you sell on a single marketplace, or you deal in genuinely one-of-a-kind vintage where the buyer pool is concentrated on one platform and crosslisting mostly buys you tyre-kickers. Also skip it if you have not yet worked out your true profit per item, because a subscription cannot fix a sourcing problem. Free tiers everywhere, a notebook for cost basis, and eBay's sold data will carry you further than most sellers expect. When the delisting starts to scare you, that is your signal to come back.
